I would absolutely buy a console that blocks used games. I hardly ever buy used games, I prefer to buy my games via digital download, and I’m hoping that the next Xbox will have more day one digital releases. I’d rather never have to deal with a disc or any physical media again. You can’t resell a digitally bought game, and no one seems to have a problem with Steam, console gamers will get over this as well. I’m 100% supportive of the future of media which is 100% digital. It won’t be long before the entertainment industry stops making CDs / DVDs / BluRays all together and there will be no second-hand market for anything. And I’m okay with that.
While I can’t argue with you about the direction that media appears to be going in, I would argue that Steam does something well that the new Microsoft and Sony consoles do not, and that’s sales. They either can’t or most likely chose not to compete as they don’t see services like Steam and Origin as competition.
No. So far I’m not impressed with the rumored specs of the next-gen consoles.
I’d have to agree. Makes PC gaming that much more appealing.
